No, that's not Agent Orange. It is colored cornstarch being flung at Color Runners, just for fun and frivolity. |
Container Park, Downtown Las Vegas |
Downtown Las Vegas is undergoing an Arts urban renewal at the Fremont District.

Container Park has a lovely playground, shops and restaurants AND a firethrowing preying mantis sculpture. For reals.

Great staff welcoming us in Vegas. |
The weather was perfect--a week later we would have had a Color Paste Run due to rains. But not Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. About 70 degrees, clear sky, not even much wind. Just what a California girl could handle.
My competition. |
When I saw the competition, I knew I was in the right race. The route was along Las Vegas Blvd, not the Strip part, onto side streets to the finish.
Here we are at the starting line with the Stratosphere in the distance and the Federal building (and Al Capone) to the right. That's Vegas for you.
On your mark, get set, wait! |
We were a very jolly crowd. I can't think you would find greater diversity anywhere in the world with the common denominator of being in a good mood while wogging 3 miles and being dusted in various colors every so often.
Even the minions were joyful. |
Lots of littl'uns went the distance. |
I was pleased I could keep up with preschoolers.
The after party type thing included healthy snacks, more colored cornstarch throwing, and even some colorful musical entertainment by volunteer runners.
Rather tribal.
Dig that crazy, colorful beat. |
So glad not to be completely sedentary anymore! Fun, exercise and family. Who could ask for more?
Proceeds from the Color Run go to Three Square Food Bank. There are Color Runs internationally. Go sign up for one and get wogging!
Absolutely agree. |
