Toddlers love to dance to his music.

His music was sent into space on Voyager to represent the Earth.

Wow, these folks have been really busy since 1998. Good for them. Here's a plethora of info. and activities to help fill a young mind in the summer.

You might want to start with astronomy, since it is pleasant outside at night (not -5 F) and the stars are free, not to mention so cool. And recognizing planets blows the mind.
Yes, that asteroid will miss us.

Bésame Mucho--Cha Cha Boom

Lips, Andy Warhol
 Bésame Mucho--The Beatles
Correct, that's not Ringo.

'This is one the songs The Beatles played for their audition for Decca Records on January 1st, 1962. Though the performance by Paul is extraordinary and the harmonies by George and John are razor sharp and as tight as they ever were The Beatles were rejected and another band now forgotten were signed. The song was written by Consuelito Velazquez in 1940,  who is a Mexican songwriter!' per youtube.

Neil Young - Heart of Gold

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fXaC07X5M8&feature=related

Heart of Gold
I want to live,
I want to give
I've been a miner
For a heart of gold.
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean
For a heart of gold
I've been in my mind,
It's such a fine line
That keeps me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

Keep me searching
For a heart of gold
You keep me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
I've been a miner
For a heart of gold.

Who Is The Greatest Rock Poet? Nomination #6

George Harrison
George Harrison used figurative language as though he was not primarily a musician, but a poet.  I'm including two of his songs/poems. I would like to also include 'Long, Long, Long,' but maybe another time,

While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the version from Love, which was a demo before Eric Clapton was invited to play.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8kyZCXQrx4

While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Love version)
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you

I look from the wings at the play you are staging
While my guitar gently weeps
As I'm sitting here doing nothing but aging
Still my guitar gently weeps

The second is "Something" considered one of the most eloquent love songs/poems ever.

 Something (Acoustic) - The Beatles

Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me

I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now

Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me

Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now

You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around now it may show
I don't know, I don't know

Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me

Don't want to leave her now
You know I believe her now

Just to Bug You Night People Tweets of the Day (6/13/12)

Or maybe 4:15 a m if you're really successful.

What 'successful' people do in the morning

Those are my quotes around successful.

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/advisor/want-success-fix-mornings-124459953.html

This is from the article--I think this is hilarious--I have been 'cured' of being a night person by a horrendously early schedule for over ten years. It worked.

But that doesn't make me a morning person, just an indoctrinated night person.

So, let's see what these bossy morning people think we should do. I bet he's tidy, too.

Track your time: "Part of spending your time better is knowing exactly how you’re spending it now," writes Vanderkam, who recommends you, "write down what you're doing as often as you can and in as much detail as you think will be helpful," offering a downloadable spreadsheet to help.

Picture the perfect morning: "Ask yourself what a great morning would look like for you," suggests Vanderkam, who offers plenty of inspiration. Shawn Achor uses the early hours to write a note of appreciation. Manisha Thakor, a personal finance guru, goes in for transcendental meditation. Randeep Rekhi, who is employed full time at a financial services firm, manages his side business, an online wine store, before heading off to work.

Think through the logistics: "Map out a morning schedule. What would have to happen to make this schedule work? What time would you have to get up and (most important) what time do you need to go to bed in order to get enough sleep?"

Build the habit: "This is the most important step," writes Vanderkam before explaining how to gradually shift your schedule, noting and rewarding small wins along the way.

Tune up as necessary: "Life changes. Rituals can change, too."

Our friend Jeff from Edutopia has some stately things to say to us:
Jeff
  1. Digital writing challenges what counts as writing and reveals the gap between how writing works in the world and how we teach it in schools.
