Let's Get the Committee Together

The Night Watch by Rembrandt

Music for when the committee meets for those oh-so-serious discussions. Mahler was inspired by the painting to compose this music. I'm guessing the trumpet is the group leader.

I usually felt like the little lady to the left background trying to get my point made, the shrill violins.

You can kind of hear the desperation of budget cuts in this piece. Bernstein brings the necessary emotion as he conducts.
