I Love Vegas in the Springtime

Ariel, my favorite
Shakespeare in Vegas? Who'd a thunk it! But what a wonderful Shakespeare it was. William would
have adored it--The Tempest--in a tent on a windy night with magical tricks and special effects by Teller of Penn and Teller fame. You may read ahead, there are no spoilers, but let me say, it was really fun. Hope this gets to Broadway.

Magic breaks the spell of 'The Tempest' in Vegas

We love Shakespeare!

The play was a birthday gift from my daughter (also an English major) and we loved it. Caliban was played by two actors almost conjoined, the set was kind of steampunk, and the band could have packed the house by itself. Wonderfully irreverent, mysterious, and human, like Shakespeare wrote it. (For those of you not as familiar with "The Tempest" there is forgiveness as a theme. Nice shift from the tragedies.)

And, the spring display at the Conservatory at the Bellagio had a new delight. Somehow there is always a serendipity there. It is special. BTW, I don't stay at the Bellagio--too rich for me--but even humble folk can visit the Conservatory. For many springs now the Bellagio has a butterfly house,
I will admit, it seems like we're on visiting day at the butterfly prison.
sparking water feature surrounded with always spectacular flowers,

Calla lilies and koi--can't beat that combination.

an amusing insect-inspired floral design.

These will be really big butterflies!

But the clever designers also came up with a koi-cam!

Was it a two way mirror? The fish seem to like peering at people.

The new exhibit at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts is called "Painting Women" which would lead you to believe it involves men painting women, but it is the work of women artists, including Georgia O'Keefe.

As usual, even when visiting my family, I can always find the nerd entertainment. And I'm glad.

As Miranda would say,  'O brave new world,

That has such people in ’t!'
