MzTeachuh's Meditations: Telling the Storm
![]() |
| This is not a photo of the Sea of Galilee--this is an actual photo of Lake Erie. |
Mark 4:35:41 KJV
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Amplified Bible
37 And a [a]fierce windstorm began to blow, and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already being swamped. 38 But Jesus was in the stern, asleep [with His head] on the [sailor’s leather] cushion. And they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are about to die?” 39 And He got up and [sternly] rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still (muzzled)!” And the wind died down [as if it had grown weary] and there was [at once] a great calm [a perfect peacefulness]. 40 Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith and confidence [in Me]?”
The Amplified Bible is like a thesaurus of translation, giving synonyms and further elaboration. Perfect peacefulness sounds good.

"I Told The Storm"Kirk Franklin
Even though your winds blow I want you to know
You cause me no alarm cause I'm safe in His arms
Even though your rain falls I can still make this call
Let there be peace now I can say go away
I command you to move today
Because of faith I have a brand new day
The sun will shine and I will be okay
That's what I told the storm
(the storm, the storm)
[Chorus:]
I told the storm (oh yes i did)
to pass (ohhhhh..)
storm you cant last (go away)
go away (I command..)
I command you to move today
(oh storm)Storm (when God speaks) when God speaks
Storm (you don't have a choice in the matter, you have to cease)
You have to cease (yes that's....)
thats what I told the storm (what I told the storm)
[repeat once more]
[Hook:]
I told the storm
(No weapons formed against me shall prosper I don't have to worry about a thing)
I told the storm
(I'm more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ, and he's gonna bring me out alright)
I told the storm
(It's amazing grace that's brought me safe thus far, and grace is gonna lead me home)
I told the storm
(I stood on solid ground and told my storm and you need to tell your storm today)
(Oh wind) Wind stop blowing
(Flood stop flowing) Flood stop flowing
(Lightening stop flashing) Lightening stop flashing
(Breakers stop dashing) Breakers stop dashing
(Darkness go away) Darkness go away
(Clouds move away) Clouds move away
(That's what I told...) That's what I told the storm
(Oh death) Death can't take me
(Job can't make me) Job can't make me
(No matter how the fares of this world...) Bills can't break me ( may seem to way me down)
Disease can't shake me
You won't drown me
My God surrounds me
That's what I told the storm
That's what I told the storm [repeat until end and fade]
You cause me no alarm cause I'm safe in His arms
Even though your rain falls I can still make this call
Let there be peace now I can say go away

What is Student Centered Learning?
http://edtechreview.in/dictionary/2292-student-centered-learning
In a student centered classroom the instruction command changes from “Do-As-I-Say” to “Lets See How We Can Do This” where the solutions are brought forward together and not just by the teacher. Allowing students to share and have a voice in what, how and why of the classroom activities give them a sense of responsibility and authority over their learning which again is a good thing. Student-centered classrooms include students in planning, implementation, and assessments. Involving the learners in these decisions will place more work on them, which can be a good thing.

How high school would be different if students could design it

The day would start later and end earlier. Testing and school uniforms would be banned. There would be dancing in the hallways. And – some changes adults might get behind, too – there’d be more art, more projects and more computers.

17 Great Resources for Building a Student’s Self Image
http://www.edudemic.com/17-resources-for-self-image/
What do your students see when they look in the mirror? Do they see someone worthwhile or someone who will never be good enough? While it isn’t your responsibility to dig into the nuances of every student’s self-perception, you can still help the members of your class to have healthy views of themselves. Such a view can bolster their academic performance and serve as a bulwark against bullying.

Children who feel closer to nature do better in exams
https://www.tes.com/news/school-news/breaking-news/children-who-feel-closer-nature-do-better-exams
He(Dr Miles Richardson)is quick to insist that what is being measured is not how much time children spend in nature, but the quality of their connection with it. “It’s that feeling of having a relationship to the wider ecology – enjoying it, and finding wonder and awe. An emotional experience in the natural world,” he said.
