George Bernard Shaw: 12 memorable quotes on his birthday
July 26th marks what would be George Bernard Shaw's
156th birthday. In the course of his career, Shaw authored more than 60
plays. When 'Pygmalion' – his most famous work – was adapted into a
British film by the same name, he became the only individual to receive
both a Nobel Prize for Literature
and an Oscar. Many of Shaw's witticisms have become deeply embedded in
modern dialogue. A survey of many of his most famous aphorisms are
included in 'Geary's Guide to the World's Great Aphorists' by James
Geary. Here are a dozen of them.
