If Sandy Becomes 'Frankenstorm,' It Could Be Worst In A Century

 "We're not trying to hype it," National Weather Service meterologist Paul Kocin tells Bloomberg News. "What we're seeing in some of our models is a storm at an intensity that we have not seen in this part of the country in the past century."

 Please, don't try to play in the storm: no surfing, no boogie boarding, no skim boarding. Water is powerful and treacherous. Anyone who's carried a couple gallons of milk knows its heavy. Anyone who's just slipped in a puddle knows it can knock you off your feet. A hurricane is a tornado type storm with millions of gallons of water moving everything. Don't let that be you slammed into a building or flushed down a drainage pipe. I won't tell you any tragic stories, but they happen and could be avoided. Be prepared. Its a great job for a middle schooler to keep the emergency supplies, etc., updated. There's so much less apprehension when we plan ahead for any emergency.

   We lived in Okinawa (military family) and the panhandle of Florida--went through more hurricanes then we could count. Our palm trees were always totally sideways. We sometimes went through the eye.

   As Hurricane Sandy heads toward the Eastern seaboard of the U.S., we’re hoping the storm doesn’t cause significant damage, as some forecasters have warned.
