How involved should a parent be in the implementation of their child’s IEP?
"Very involved! It’s important that a parent be the #1 advocate for
their child and that they are actively participating at school meetings
if they have questions or concerns. They should be contacting the
teacher directly, and if they’re not getting satisfying answers from
their meetings with teachers, parents should contact the school
principal in order to come up with a plan of action that assures the IEP
is in fact addressing the child’s needs." -Markay Winston, Chief
