Teachable Moment: FDR's Speeches

FDR's Fireside Chat 12 March 1933
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
First Fireside Chat

has a marvelous selection of FDR's speeches. There is nothing like hearing the real thing--the emotion in the voice, the emphasis on certain words and passages. Even the unusual accent of the upper class from that period of American history.

Each December 7, when I was teaching high school, I would always play the 'Day of Infamy' speech, even though I was teaching English.

Please utilize this marvelous resource.
