Summer Activity: Thunderstorm? Read This Story

Y'all do know not to go out in a thunderstorm, right? Lightning is SUPER dangerous. Now that we have established that fact,  here's a great memoir to read during a thunderstorm.

Chapter V of Helen Keller's autobiography The Story of My Life has a tremendous description of a thunderstorm--from a girl who could not see or hear. The whole book is well worth reading. The full text is available at the following site.

The 1962 movie "The Miracle Worker" is directly based on Helen Keller's memoirs. It is available on Netflix and YouTube. As a teacher of the Severely Handicapped myself, I will say this is powerful production is a valid portrayal.
