See the Ressikan flute? |
I met a wonderful writer at the Star Trek Convention today. Morgan Gendel. He wrote what is most often voted the favorite episode of the Next Generation, and possibly the favorite of all Star Trek episodes. This is Patrick Stewart's favorite episode. Its called 'The Inner Light.' Even if you hate sci fi, and detest Star Trek, you may really enjoy this one. Just try it. The writer told me he was trying to name his scripts after Beatles songs; he succeeded with this one. There is charming flute music associated with this episode, I hope including this ending doesn't ruin it for anyone.
I purchased a writer's copy of the script for this episode, and Morgan Gendel autographed it.
Here is George Harrison's music called "The Inner Light.'
Folks who attend the Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas are a differentiated group, alright. And it seems evident that for the most part they have a good working vocabulary to understand all those three and four syllable words in the episodes.
Another highlight today was a presentation that seemed borrowed from a college Shakespeare class. Armin Shimmerman, Jeffrey Combes, and Casey Biggs presented over an hour of scenes and recitations from the Bard, all without Sir Patrick Stewart's help. Romeo and Juliet, with Jeffrey as Juliet, Armin doing Richard III, Casey doing Henry V; and their favorite sonnets.
Didn't surprise me, I was aware most of the cast members of Star Trek were also accomplished stage actors.

These were the best Trekkies ever; their owner said their names were Tasha, Data, and Will Riker.
